Leather Fob Shapes

1) CLASSIC

Our classic range with the hinged enamel attached to the fob by a leather loop are just as car key rings were 50 years ago. After a couple of year’s use they will wear in and be virtually indistinguishable from the originals. What better to dangle from the dashboard of your Morris Minor or Triumph TR3 ? Also available with inlaid enamel.

2) TEARDROP

These are to our own design and have been carefully contoured as the perfect teardrop. Available with hinged or inlaid enamel. We hope they will become classics in their own right.

3) SHIELD

Closely following the lines of very rarely found examples from the mid ‘50’s. These would have been an aftermarket purchase at the time. Now back with a vengeance. Go on – be different ! - only available with inlaid enamel.

4) 1960's SLIMLINE TEARDROP

The slimline teardrop was a popular keyfob design in the 1960's. Our version is very similar to the well know 'Keyflix' design which was used at that time. For this smaller keyfob we use thinner leather and stitch at a spacing of 10 stitches per inch rather than our standard 7 stitches per inch. We offer this fob for some of our smaller 25mm diameter enamel badges but all our standard sized hinged enamel badges can be mounted on this fob if preferred. Please tick 'teardrop' on the online order form and specify 'slimline teardrop' in the special requirements section.

5) Late 1950's LOZENGE SHAPE

This symmetrical ‘lozenge’ shape was produced for a very short period from the late 1950’s into the very early 1960’s – just as keyfobs were beginning to become generally available. As can be seen – the split ring is positioned at 90 degrees to the keyfob itself – which resulted in the keyfob not always hanging flat to the dashboard when in use.
Original examples are now very rare indeed – what few were produced have generally been lost or have literally worn out over the last 60 years.
We have collected together quite a few original examples ( some of these are shown in the image ) and have now produced a faithful reproduction.
Original leather thickness and texture, stitching, eyelet and split ring have been taken into account.
All of our hinged enamel badges can be ordered mounted on the late 1950’s lozenge shaped fob – please clickon ‘ORDER KEY RINGS’ and go to ‘X - LATE 1950’s LOZENGE SHAPED KEYFOB’ right at the end of the alpahabetical list of makes in the ordering section.
